My Experience:
I lived in Baltimore County for 15 years of my life. Personally, I love the parks, recreation, and activities it has to offer. My husband and I first lived in a cozy rancher up in Sparks/Hereford. It was so tranquil to live in the private countryside as we raised our three kids. As we were remodeling that home, I became inspired by the investment opportunity real estate had to offer me and my family. During that time, I decided to get my real estate license. I began my work as a buyer’s and seller’s agent, traveling all around upper Baltimore County. I showed and listed homes throughout Hereford, Parkton, Cockeysville, Towson, and Timonium, Eventually, when we sold that home, we profited about $50,000 from all the improvements and appreciation. Plus, we decided to subdivide our land in order to profit another $100,000.
When we left that home, we moved into a different county entirely. It wasn’t until all but one of my children had graduated high school that my local daughter and I moved back into Baltimore County. By that time, I had gotten into investment properties even more. In fact, I had a whole team of investors and contractors who flipped homes as a side business. I still worked as a Real Estate Agent, of course, but couldn’t ignore the rising housing market. We bought a townhome in Owings Mills, Maryland. I purchased the dilapidated property for cheap and had a whole crew in there to remodel it from top to bottom. Then, we lived there for several years, exploring the suburbs of Baltimore. For both work and pleasure, I visited Catonsville, White Marsh, Dundalk, Essex, Parkville, Pikesville, Randallstown, Reisterstown, Woodlawn, Perry Hall, and Arbutus.
It was especially nice to live right outside the beltway, where I could hop on and go almost anywhere quickly. At that point, I started to learn more about Baltimore City. My daughter and I explored the Inner Harbor, Fells Point, Mount Vernon, and Cherry Hill to name a few. I even sold a couple of Real Estate transactions in the city. There were a lot of investors I knew that were interested in flipping homes in the city, too. My time spent in Baltimore County taught me a lot about the housing market. Also, I learned about what homeowners wanted as I worked with a wide variety of clientele.
